How to understand 500 liters per hour water treatment machine?

For small water treatment needs of 500 liters/hour (0.5 m³/h), the following are the design points and configu

ration recommendations of a compact system, suitable for laboratories, small industries or home scenarios:

1. System core components

Pretreatment stage

PP cotton filter: 5-10μm accuracy, removes silt and rust, and the filter element needs to be replaced regularly

 (3-6 months).

Activated carbon filter: adsorbs residual chlorine and organic matter, and the flow rate matches 0.5 m³/h (opt

ional 10" filter housing + granular carbon).

Softening resin tank (optional): For high hardness water, the resin volume is about 10-20L, and the regenerati

on cycle is calculated according to the water consumption.

Main treatment process (selected according to water quality)

Reverse osmosis (RO) system

Membrane specifications: household/commercial 4040 or 8040 membrane (0.2-0.5 m³/h flux), desalination ra

te>90%.

High-pressure pump: 24V or 220V, power 50-100W, pressure 6-8 bar.

Recovery rate: 50%-70%, concentrated water can be recycled for flushing.

Ultrafiltration (UF) system: hollow fiber membrane (0.01μm), no electricity required, runs on tap water press

ure.

Post-processing unit

Ultraviolet (UV) sterilizer: 6-10W power, 254nm wavelength, kills 99.9% of bacteria.

Mineralized filter element (optional): Add calcium, magnesium and other minerals to improve the taste of RO

 water.

2. Key equipment parameters

Water pump:

RO system booster pump (New Territory pump), flow rate 0.5 m³/h, head 15-20m.

Water storage pressure tank:

Capacity 50-100L (avoid frequent start and stop of pump).

Control panel:

LCD display, with TDS monitoring, low pressure protection, automatic flushing function.

3. Energy consumption and maintenance cost

Energy consumption:

RO system: about 0.5-1 kWh/m³ (average daily power consumption is 1-2 degrees).

UV sterilizer: about 0.01 kWh/h for continuous operation.

Consumables replacement:

PP cotton/activated carbon filter: 6-12 months

RO membrane: 2-3 years.

4. Typical application scenarios

Household drinking water: PP+activated carbon+RO+UV, directly connected to the kitchen faucet.

Laboratory ultrapure water: RO+DI mixed bed resin (resistivity ≥18.2 MΩ·cm).

Small coffee shop/catering: softening + activated carbon to improve taste and protect equipment.

5. Size and installation:

Floor area <1 m², can be wall-mounted or installed in a cabinet.

6. Notes

Water quality testing: It is recommended to first test the raw water TDS, hardness, COD and other parameters

, and select the process in a targeted manner.

Drainage requirements: The RO system needs to discharge concentrated water (about 1:1 ratio), and a draina

ge pipe needs to be reserved.

If a specific model or budget assessment is required, more water quality details or usage scenarios can be pro

vided!
